How do you handle sending money to your partner's family?

Married two years, living in Udon Thani. We send 8,000 baht a month to my wife's parents and I am genuinely fine with it — they are in their seventies and there is no pension. What I struggle with is the extra requests that land on top, maybe every six weeks, always urgent, always between 3,000 and 20,000. I do not think anyone is lying to me. I just have no idea what normal looks like. What do other couples here actually do? Fixed amount only? A separate emergency budget? How do you say no without it becoming a family incident?
