International school fees in Bangkok — reality check please

Relocating with two children, ages 7 and 11. The tier-one schools are quoting 700,000 to 900,000 baht per child per year before uniform, bus, trips and the capital levy, which is more than my package assumes. Are the mid-tier bilingual schools genuinely fine, or is that a compromise people regret at secondary level? Would especially like to hear from parents who moved a child from one tier to another.
