Meeting her family in the village for the first time — what should I know?

Going to Roi Et next month to meet my girlfriend's parents. I have read the obvious things: bring a gift, wai the elders, do not point my feet, expect to be fed constantly. What I want are the less obvious ones. How much do I contribute without making it strange? Am I expected to drink? Is it rude to sleep separately, or rude not to? What did you get wrong the first time?
